John 1:16-18

From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.

For the law was given through Moses,

But God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.

No one has ever seen God.

But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart.

He has revealed God to us.

At some point in our lives everyday, we all need to stop and proclaim that, from the abundance that God has provided for all of us, we have received one blessing after another.  As a pastor, I am always somewhat amazed at our lack of appreciation of our "daily bread."  For most of us, we want for nothing.  God provides, daily, much more than we need.  We provide a free meal in our church every day at 6 PM.  We do this for several reasons.  We are a ministry that caters to the performing artist.  The "starving artist" definition, for many in this field, is completely accurate.  We live in what AARP has described as "Mayberry RFD," but this town has a very large homeless population.  Yes, people walk into our church to eat.  Finally, Acts 2 tells us to "fellowship in the temple, daily!"  The Bible wasn't kidding when this statement was written down by Luke.  Our meal provides that fellowship opportunity for our members who choose to be obedient to God.  Having said all that, we always have food leftover.  Don't get me wrong.  We are always frugal in our buying and preparing, but God always makes sure that the "leftovers" get taken home, taken to work for lunch for the next day, or used in another evening meal.  God provides MORE than our daily bread.  Notice that John identifies the connection between the Old and New Testaments.  The law is found in the Old Testament.  The revealing of God, through His Son Jesus Christ, is found in the New Testament.  As the song says, "You can't have one without the other!"  So, count your blessings and number them out loud each day.  Be grateful to God for the abundance He has bestowed on all of us.  Cherish your fellow Christians in your Family of God through fellowship in the temple daily.  "Jesus Has Revealed God to Each of Us!"
