Hebrews 10:23-25

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm,

For God can be trusted to keep his promise.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do,

But encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

The writer of Hebrews remains a mystery, but there is much wisdom in the words of our Scripture today.  Notice what we are being encouraged to do on a daily basis.  We are to fill our lives with thoughts of how to motivate one another into acts of love and good works.  Let's examine our lives for a minute, here in this world.  What consumes a majority of our day?  If we look at most of our calendars, you will find work, school, trips to athletic events for our children, and a whole host of other meetings.  Missing from most of our daily event planners is Godly, motivational thinking, driven by a desire to love and do great works in God's Kingdom.  Do we neglect meeting together as the Family of God?  Does our Outlook calendar include an entry each day marked, "encouragement and fellowship?"  Often we overlook why so many people are depressed, despondent, or disappointed.  There is a reason that God, and Hebrews, wants us to stop and evaluate what we do.  I am so blessed to have a great Family of God around me.  We do meet in the temple daily.  We do break bread together.  We do take time to encourage each other and pray.  As a result, we are all growing in Christ.  I did not say we were perfect.  I said we were all growing daily.  Finally, notice that almost 2,000 years ago they thought the return of Jesus was drawing near!  We need to realize that they didn't know anymore than we do.  While we wait on the Lord, let's serve each other.  Let's love and encourage.  Let's fellowship daily together.  We should be delighted as, "God Can Be Trusted to Keep His Promise!"
