2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Either way, Christ’s love controls us.

Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

As a pastor, I often have people ask me about God's will.  The most popular question in this category is always, "How do I know if I am doing God's will?"  While there is no set answer to this question, Paul helps us a lot in today's Scripture.  Christ's love should control us.  When we are "born again," our old, selfish ways should die with our old life.  Remember when Nicodemous asked Jesus how it was possible to be born again?  Remember Jesus's answer?  He basically told Nicodemous that for being such a smart man, he was not being wise.  Sometimes, Jesus is saying the same thing to us.  We often make Christianity much more complicated than it is.  If Christ loved us so much that He was willing to die for us on a cross, should that not be the complete answer for us and determine our behavior?  We can no longer live for ourselves if we are going to live for Jesus.  We must reach beyond our understanding and follow in Christ's footsteps.  If we don't follow His lead, and many churches and Christians don't, we send very mixed messages to those who are lost and are looking for Christ.  This is why people have stopped attending local New Testament Churches.  They experience hypocritical people in the world every day.  They simply don't want to see it in the church they choose to join and serve.  While Christians are not perfect, we need to strive to be much better than the world.  The Bible says we should be IN the world, not OF the world.  Let's let Jesus be our guide, friend, and example.  Either way, "Christ's Love Should Control Us!"
