Luke 19:36-38

As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him.

When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives,

All of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along,

Praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.

“Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the LORD!
Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”

Aren't parades wonderful?  We never know what is coming next and they are always spectacular.  Because I live in Central Florida, there are numerous parades every day at the major theme parks.  When parade time rolls around, many workers must herd the large crowds into a place where both the parade can get through, and the spectators can see said parade.  Crowd control for these events is a big deal and often gets out of hand.  The most popular parade to hit Jerusalem was the Palm Sunday parade, starring Jesus!  The crowd was huge and all had their palm branches in hand.  Some laid them on the dusty road, along with their outer garments.  Everyone was shouting and getting into the spirit of this special event.  One group of people was not cheering.  The chief priests and the Pharisees were plotting how to kill Jesus and how to control the crowd.  The people were simply not staying within the "crowd control" lines and the people in charge were getting very nervous.  At one point, the chief priest asked Jesus to quiet the crowd.  He responded by explaining that even if the crowd were to be quiet, the rocks and stones themselves would start to sing!  There were literally thousands of people in Jerusalem for the parade.  On Friday, there would be another parade, one that would lead to Golgatha.  The crowd would be much smaller.  A man would be plucked from the crowd to carry the cross of Jesus.  No garments would be laid on the road and no palm branches would be waved.  No shouts of "Hosanna" would be heard.  Where did everyone go?  The star of both parades was the same.  Both parades were truly important in the life of Jesus.  Most Christians only showed up for one.  "Will We Attend both Parades?"
