Hebrews 13:5-7

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have.

For God has said, “I will never fail you.
    I will never abandon you.”

So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”

Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God.

Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.

In part four of our seven-part devotion series entitled, "Whom Shall I Fear?" we turn to the writer of Hebrews for some very wise advice.  Our Scripture today begins with an admonition about money.  Why would we talk about money in the same breath as fear?  Unfortunately, virtually everything in the world is driven by "the almighty dollar," rather than God the Almighty!  A large majority of our fear in the world is centered around whether we will have enough money.  The love of money destroys individuals. marriages, corporations, and yes, churches.  Hebrews tells us that we never need to covet or love money because God will never fail us and always provide our daily bread.  If you are a worrier about money, work on this fact today, as it can be the greatest and fastest demise of your life.  Today we discover that if the Lord is our helper, we need have no fear.  Then the writer of Hebrews asks an important question of all of us.  Have we ever contemplated what mere people can really do to us if we are in constant fellowship with God?  The answer to that question is absolutely nothing.  Finally, we must remember all the apostles and the prophets who taught us so well, and genuinely imitate their lives and live like Jesus.  We pay far too much attention to the "nay-sayers."  We have far too much to be thankful for in this life, and beyond, to spend any time with anger, envy, jealousy, or fear.  All of these emotions are tools of Satan.  There is a reason why the Bible calls it, "The Joy of the Lord!"  So, don't love money.  That worldly endeavor is a dead-end street. Remember our Godly ancestors.  Let the Lord be your help so that we can claim "Freedom From Fear!"
