Acts 2:46-47

They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper,

And shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God

And enjoying the goodwill of all the people.

And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Over the last year, God has spent a great deal of time with me discussing the subjects of fellowship and worship.  While my life verse is found in Joshua 24:15, our Scripture lesson today is quickly becoming the motto for my ministry.  I would like to share some insight with you, from God, regarding today's Scripture.  By Your Side Ministries is announcing our regular, unique fellowship and worship experience today that begins February 22.  We are launching it because of Acts 2:46-47.  Luke tells us in our Scripture today that we need to fellowship and worship together daily in the temple.  Let's stop right there.  Most of you are saying to yourself, "I can't do that.  I have other things to do."  You are right that you do have other things to do.  You are wrong if you say, "I can't do that."  I was recently at a bowling alley for a ninth birthday party for one of the daughters of my ministry partner.  After I had helped get the kids drinks and make sure they were all eating and enjoying, I wandered over to the stat sheets that were posted on the wall for all of the weekly leagues.  I noticed something very revealing.  Many of the same names appeared on multiple league rosters.  There were people who were bowling 3-6 days per week.  There were 5 names that appeared in a league every day!  Why?  Because the bowling alley opens every day and gives people an opportunity to come bowl!  Shouldn't God's church do the same thing?  We can't fellowship daily in the temple, because we have chosen to "bowl," not because "we don't have the time."  The other reason that daily fellowship in the temple is difficult, is because the church's neon sign says "closed," except on particular "Holy days!"  Notice what happened in Acts when people fellowshipped and worshiped in the temple daily.  They ate together, prayed together, shared Holy Communion together, and experienced great generosity and goodwill.  I don't know about you, but I want that for my life!  I promise they did not get that at their local bowling alley.  When we "bowl" every day, we experience unhealthy competition, envy, jealousy, ill-will, and influences that potentially can be harmful to our fellowship.  Can you guess what was posted on the stat sheets for the bowling leagues?  Stats!!  We explained who had the highest average, who bowled the highest game score, and yes, who won the most money.  Get the picture?  What happens when we fellowship in the temple daily?  God adds people who are being "saved" through Christ to our number, daily.  Those of you that bowl, I'm not attacking you!  There is nothing wrong with bowling, unless it gets in the way of your fellowship with God and His people.  The next time God calls you to "fellowship in the temple daily," before you say, "I'm too busy," ask yourself, "Busy doing what?"  If the answer is "I'm bowling," maybe we should look at our priorities.  I am living, breathing proof that fellowshipping in the temple daily works.  I am so grateful for the Family of God that fellowships and worships with me.  Read about our new, unique "fellowship and worship opportunity" today on the website.  Let's all make a decision for God that we will "bowl" less and "fellowship" more.  Watch God grow YOUR Family of God, daily.  Today is the day the Lord hath made.  Rejoice and be glad in it!
