John 3:16-17

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son,

So that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

Today we begin an eighteen-part devotion series entitled, "Sharing God's Love!"  We begin with one of the most quoted and well-know passages of Scripture from the book of John.  Many of us began memorizing this Scripture verse when we were small children.  If you haven't read it recently, take comfort as I explain how God shared His love with each of us that receives it gladly.  Remember that in Genesis, we see the destruction of God's perfect world for us by Adam and Eve.  The instruction was that all God had given Adam and Eve was theirs to use, maintain, and enjoy.  God had one rule.  There was but one tree they were not to touch.  From that point on, man has been "sinning" in a very sinful world.  Our worldly natures are not good.  Rather, they are bad!  God saw that things were completely out of control.  This was the same condition the world was in during Noah's days.  That is why God instructed Noah to build an ark, gather the animals and the other seven members of his family, and hang on tight!  Another flood was not possible because God promised Noah He would never again flood the earth.  Instead, God shared his agape love with all of us in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ.  For all of us that believe, we shall never perish, but have eternal life.  As the song says, "Jesus Paid it All!"  How could there be any greater love than this?  Over the next three weeks, we are going to explore what this kind of "love-sharing" means to each of us.  Today, bask in the glow of God's love that is beyond measure.   God did not send Jesus to judge us.  God sent Jesus to save us!  In the next few devotions we will look at Biblical characters that were able to share this deep agape love from God with others.  We must learn how to do this too, if we are to truly be God's children.  Share this central Christian fact with someone today.  "We Are Saved By God's Love!"
