1 John 4:17-19

And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.

So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment,

But we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.

If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment,

And this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

We love each other because he loved us first.

In part twelve of our eighteen-part devotion series entitled, "Sharing God's Love!" we listen as John instructs about God's love.  You remember John.  He was the beloved disciple.  He was always there, even at the cross.  As promised by Jesus, he was the last disciple to die.  John was the disciple that Jesus gave to His mother.  Who better to know about God's love?  I often tell those around me that most of life, and working successfully for God, is simply a result of being obedient and showing up!  Yes, it is that simple.  John understood the heart of God because he fully embraced His Son Jesus Christ.  John was always there.  Wherever Jesus went, John went also.  As a result, he was present for every miracle, sermon, teaching event, and challenge that Jesus experienced.  What better way to learn?  John tells us the most important fact about fear.  It can be removed completely by sharing God's agape love.  If we are afraid, we fear God and punishment.  That  is one powerful statement!  John also tells us that if we are afraid, we have not fully experienced God's love.  Okay, how does John know what we are feeling?  Very simple answer.  John was there!  By being present, John experienced love, hate, fear, disappointment, joy, victory, defeat, envy, jealousy, and anger.  By participating in all these situations by the side of Jesus, John's discernment became keen and sharp.  He learned to recognize the true love of God and he also learned what "imitation" love looked like.  Today, let's first experience the true agape love of God in our own lives.  Let Jesus love you fully.  Let Him forgive you for all your trespasses.  Then share that agape love with others.  Don't be afraid.  Jesus has our backs and will never leave or forsake us.  Now we can face the day and exclaim, "Look Out Fear, I Have God's Love Onboard!"
