Proverbs 13:10-12

Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.

Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

In part two of our ten part devotion series entitled, "Whither or Grow...Our Choice!" we turn to Solomon for some great advice.  Pride does lead to conflict.  God calls us to be humble and righteously proud of Him and what He does through us.  We are not to be prideful of what WE have done.  Wise counsel is essential in our Christian walk.  How can we discern the real thing versus a poor imitation?  Use God's Word as the benchmark.  Does the advice we receive find its truth in the Bible?  If not, it is not wise counsel.  If you ever watch late-night TV, you have seen the "get-rich-quick" infomercials.  Why are they on late at night?  Desperate people can never sleep, as they have no peace.  Nilsson has confirmed that for us!  Those infomercials are geared, and tied, to all those that believe money is the answer and don't wish to work hard at anything.  These very same people, who can't afford to feed their families, spend their last $99.95 on exactly what they don't need.  How do I know?  Years ago, I did it too.  Now when I am up late, I am not watching infomercials.  I am creating music and working for God's Kingdom.  I am talking or texting people who are striving for God's peace.  I have discovered something very important that I want to share with all of you.  The less material "stuff" that you have, the less you need.  If you truly trust God for your daily bread, He will provide and not leave much for us to waste!  This is probably the area where I have grown the most over the last two years.  This kind of obedience provides eternal hope that does not have to be deferred.  It can be enjoyed right now!  We all must dream for God.  When we do, the results of these fulfilled dreams brings us to the very throne room of God, and ensures that we see His face.  That is what the Scripture means when Solomon describes a fulfilled dream as a tree of life.  Don't miss out.  Turn late-night TV off and talk to God.  Work for His Kingdom and His Word will be a lamp unto our feet.  We will grow in Christ daily.  "God's Growth and Peace Will Indwell Us Daily!"
