Psalm 24:7-9

Open up, ancient gates!
Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord,  strong and mighty; the Lord,  invincible in battle.
Open up, ancient gates!
Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.

In part four of our six-part devotion series entitled, "God vs. Satan...the Real Super Bowl!" David tells us who the King of Glory is and who will win the battle!  Sometimes we just need to hear and sing a psalm!!!  While a number of the psalms are what some might consider depressing, this one is an example with unbridled praise.  We recently have added a new song to our worship services entitled, "Open Up the Heavens!"  The words go on to say that we want the heavens opened up so we can see God.  Long before this song came from Vertical Church, David was proclaiming it to God in Psalm 24.  The only difference here is that David is encouraging us to open our gates and doors!  Why would that be necessary?  Isn't everyone that is a Christian equipped with an open gate and door?  The answer is obviously "NO" according to our Scripture.  The world causes us to let our "doors" and "gates" rust shut.  We forget who God really is.  In case we were wondering, David says that He is the King of Glory.  The key is that God is invincible in battle.  We all need some of that!  Is it any wonder that we lose everyday when we fight alone?  Let's tie everything we know together so that we can fully understand the power of the King of Glory.  God wants us to completely surrender to His Son Jesus Christ.  This means making Him the center of all that we do.  In return, we receive the Holy Spirit that fights the battle with us in the world each day.  We will become weary, so every day, we must fellowship, break bread, pray, and lift Him up in the temple.  Our "Family of God" will help with this and tend to us when we are tired, sick, downtrodden, or confused.  God will repair each of us and send us back to the battle refreshed and renewed.  How often does this need to happen?  The Bible says every day.  If we are not participating in this daily "Circle of Life," it might explain why things are less than they should be in our daily walk.  God has given us a clear path.  We will be engaged in battle every day.  That is a fact.  All we need to do is cry out like David did.  Let's open up our gates and doors.  Then God will, "Open Up the Heavens So We Can See Him!"
