Matthew 21:43-44

"I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit. Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.”

Part four of our five-part devotion series entitled "One Nation Under God," comes with a serious warning that we must all listen to and heed.  One of the things that we seem to forget is when we remove God from our nation, God also removes us from His Kingdom. The stone that is mentioned in our Scripture is none other than Jesus Christ.  Listen to these harsh words that Jesus delivers.  Jesus tells the Jewish people that if they don't do what they should, God will take away their Kingdom of God and give it to people who will produce proper fruit.  Notice the word "proper."  Jesus does not just say that we should be fruitful.  He says that we must produce "proper" fruit.   What does that mean?  Jesus says we can't just take up space.  We can't produce "fruit" that is not of God.  We all know what Jesus did to the fig tree that produced no "proper" fruit!  We need to work for the Kingdom.  For us, that means accepting Christ as our personal Savior and telling the world about Him.  It doesn't mean rituals and rules.  Rather, we must be righteous and reverent.  It doesn't mean that we should exclude anyone.  Instead, we need to be inclusive and love one another as God commanded.  As our Scripture today states, people will exclude themselves.  We must realize that everyone has a chance to accept or reject Christ.  Because of "free will," God respects our choices.  Remember, we must also live with our choices, good or bad.  So today, we need to remember these words of Jesus.  We must be "One Nation Under God."  If we are not willing to do this, be warned that we will have "Lost Our Kingdom."  In many cases in the United States today, it has already happened.
