Acts 3:4-8

Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!”

The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money.

But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you.

But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”

Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up.

And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened.

He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk!

Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.

After the day of Pentecost, Peter and John, along with all of us, were empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue God's work.  Please stop and ponder this thought before you continue reading this devotion.  We are empowered to do everything Jesus did, here on earth, by the Holy Spirit.  Today's Scripture tells us what our "lame" man would miss if we did not act on this gift.  The lame man was on the ground, looking for a hand out, right outside the entrance to the temple.  He looked at Peter and John, hoping they would give him some money.  Instead, Peter gave the lame man something he never expected,  Peter and John gave the lame man mobility by healing him.  How did this occur?  Peter reached out his hand to the man and called on the name of Jesus.  Let's all learn from Peter.  The Holy Spirit indwells us, not the other way around!  It is not us saving, instructing, or healing anyone, so let's not take credit or boast.  We need to call on the name of Jesus and let God be God.  By Peter's mere touch, strength returned to the man's limbs.  He literally jumped for joy!!!  That is not the end of the story.  Peter, John, and the lame man did not head to McDonalds for some nuggets and a milkshake!  Luke, the writer of Acts, tells us that this healed man now walks, leaps, and praises God as he enters the temple.  Yes, I said enters the temple!  When we "heal" someone in the name of Jesus, we need to take their hand and lead them to the temple to praise and thank God.  We should all be shouting and jumping.  So today, believe that the Holy Spirit has empowered you to do all things through Christ Jesus.  Look Around, Miracles Abound!
