Luke 4:28-30

When they heard this, the people in the synagogue were furious.

Jumping up, they mobbed him and forced him to the edge of the hill

On which the town was built.

They intended to push him over the cliff,

But he passed right through the crowd and went on his way.

In part three of our twelve-part devotion series entitled, "The Age of Miracles!" Jesus is mobbed and pushed to the edge of a cliff.  Jesus had been in the temple telling people that prophecy had been fulfilled in Him.  At first, they were all excited.  Then Jesus told them the truth and they didn't like it.  Jesus explained that "prophets" are NEVER accepted in their hometown.  Jesus gave Biblical examples that they would all know regarding both Elijah and Elisha.  When I was traveling the country doing motivational speaking for three years, I was in great demand in every state but the one I lived in!  Cities that were only 50 miles away from me could have had the program I offered for a fraction of the cost that others paid.  No one ever even inquired until a local newspaper did an article, in my Florida hometown, about a clinic I did in Colorado.  Immediately I began to receive inquiries about why I was doing this program in 40 other states.  My response was simple.  I had advertised in Florida but no one even called until they found out the success that had happened 2000 miles away.  The only reason the people of Nazareth were even entertaining Jesus was because they heard of the miracles He had done in other places.  Yet Jesus had been from Nazareth forever!  Their joy turned to hate when Jesus did not turn to those who had always rejected Him.  They then mobbed Him and tried to throw Him off a cliff.  Miraculously, He passed right through the crowd and went on His way.  We should learn an important lesson from Jesus.  "Often the Most Important Miracles Are Right in Front of Us!"
