Mark 1:21-26

Jesus and his companions went to the town of Capernaum.

When the Sabbath day came, he went into the synagogue and began to teach.

The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority—

Quite unlike the teachers of religious law.

Suddenly, a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit began shouting,

“Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us?

I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

Jesus cut him short.

“Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered.

At that, the evil spirit screamed, threw the man into a convulsion, and then came out of him.

In part four of our twelve-part devotion series entitled, "The Age of Miracles!" Jesus casts out an unclean spirit in the synagogue, on the Sabbath, in front of many witnesses!  Does it get any better than this?  What is even better is this immediately follows part three of our devotion series where Jesus was pushed to the edge of the cliff in Nazareth.  Notice that the people immediately identified that Jesus was different.  They realized that His teaching had true authority.  This is an important point.  Until the truth was actually preached by Jesus, the people seemed content with untruth.  It was not until Jesus exposed those that were teaching half-truths, that the people became enlightened.  Then came the big finish.  The evil spirit arrived!   No, this does not just happen in the movies!  Evil does exist and Satan uses those who are willing as vessels, the same as Jesus uses those who call upon His name.  This man stood and denounced Jesus.  Notice that the evil spirit knew exactly who Jesus was and said so!  Finally, notice the power of Jesus.  He commanded the evil spirit to be gone and the evil spirit left.  Is it really that simple?  Yes it is, but it requires sacrifice on our part.  We must stand for Jesus, regardless of the cost or convenience.  "We Must All Say No To Satan Daily!"
