Matthew 12:23-25

The crowd was amazed and asked,

“Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?”

But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said,

“No wonder he can cast out demons.

He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”

Jesus knew their thoughts and replied,

“Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed.

A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart.

In part six of our twelve-part devotion series entitled, "The Age of Miracles!" Matthew teaches us about the world's deception and lack of recognition of true Christian miracles.  Jesus has just cast out demons in front of a huge crowd.  The Pharisees were present.  Scripture tells us that the crowd was amazed and asked if this person could be Jesus.  The Pharisees proclaimed that Jesus got His power from Satan.  They refused to acknowledge the power of God.  I also think it is interesting that no one asked a very important question.  If Jesus got His power from Satan, why would He call out demons and destroy their power on earth?  Wouldn't Satan want everyone to be possessed by demons?  Jesus, once again, gives us the perfect answer.  Our house cannot be divided.  That is why so many families and churches fail, at an alarming rate, here in the United States.  If we are to make a difference for God, we must take a "miraculous" stand for His Son.  We must recognize His miracles and where His true power comes from.  We must acknowledge God the Almighty as the Alpha and Omega.  Our spiritual discernment is key.  Learn to recognize the power of the Holy Spirit and remember to claim God's promise to each of us.  "The Holy Spirit Lives in Me!"
