Matthew 21:14-16

The blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, and he healed them.

The leading priests and the teachers of religious law saw these wonderful miracles

And heard even the children in the Temple shouting,

“Praise God for the Son of David.”

But the leaders were indignant.

They asked Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?”

“Yes,” Jesus replied. “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures?

For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.’”

In part eight of our twelve-part devotion series entitled, "The Age of Miracles!" Jesus once again teaches us about the power of our children.  We all know that one of the major focuses of our Savior is our children.  He rebuked the disciples when they tried to keep the children away from Him.  It was a child who provided the five loaves and two fishes.  In today's Scripture lesson, it is the children who watch Jesus perform miracles and shout, "Praise God for the Son of David!"  The religious leaders of the day got very nervous.  They immediately questioned Jesus about this fact. In essence, they rebuked Jesus about the behavior of the children in the temple.  Jesus responded, as He should, by quoting Scripture.  It is our job to teach our children and infants to give praise to God.  Really?  Yes, really!!!  We are in the middle of a wonderful four-week summer youth camp centered around God and theater.  We have eighteen glorious children.  They are shouting praises to Jesus for their talents and we are teaching them to never stop.  They are bringing their families to fellowships and dinners.  In some cases, they are bringing their families to worship!  Let us remember what Jesus said about children and rejoice in the miracles they are!  "Let the Children Come To Me!"
