Psalm 62:1-2

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.

Sometimes simple and short is the best remedy for confusion and frustration.  David tells us that he will wait quietly before God for his only victory comes from Him.  Our Scripture today uses three nouns to describe God's protection for us.  All are different.  First, David says, "God is my rock."  It is so important to realize that God is the only solid foundation.  God is the only stability we have in our lives and in churches.  Second, David proclaims, "God is my salvation."  God is our only saving grace.  God is the only one that can bail us out of the constant trouble we get into with Satan's influence.  There is nowhere else to turn in times of trouble.  Finally, David gives us the most comforting thought of all by saying that, "God is my fortress, where I will never be shaken."  We can choose to live in God's everlasting protection as our "fortress."  This is the only place that we can fight the dark side and win.  Today, claim God's promise in your life and make Him your rock, salvation, and fortress.  Do this all the time, but especially in times of doubt and despair.  Do not turn to the world unless you want worldly solutions.  The world will provide you with "sinking sand" solutions which will destroy, disappoint, delude, and damage all of us, permanently.  So, be like David.  Wait on God quietly.  Let God be your rock, salvation, and fortress!
