1 Peter 1:6-7

So be truly glad.

There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while.

These trials will show that your faith is genuine.

It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—

Though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.

So when your faith remains strong through many trials,

It will bring you much praise and glory and honor

On the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

Today we turn to Peter for an explanation of why we have trials when we believe in Jesus.  Peter begins by telling us to be truly glad.  If you ever struggle with "truly glad," you are not alone.  Satan will always attempt to remove our joy by promoting despair.  We must look ahead to the joy the Lord is bringing us each and every day.  Our Scripture tells us there will be many trials.  Many means many!  We discover how strong our faith is as Satan tries us beyond our patience level.  The reference here is to fire, which is the ultimate cleansing.  Remember, that is how God will purify the earth in Revelation.  We must not become confused about what is important.  Our faith is more precious than gold.  I hope we all feel like that.  Unshakable faith in God is one of the most difficult things to accomplish in our earthly lives.  After all, we thrive on "seeing is believing!"  Most of what God does we can't see before it happens.  We have to have faith that it will happen.  Because hindsight is always "20-20," we can usually see God's hand in our lives AFTER things occur, but not before.   Here is the great news.  Our faith will cause us to see Jesus when He is revealed to the world.  It will also bring us much praise, glory and honor.  Will God and Jesus really give us all these accolades?  Absolutely!!!  So, stay the course and have faith.  Fellowship with God daily and be grateful for the trials we have in our lives.  These trials are refining and redefining our faith.  "It is Worth the Wait!"
