John 13:33-36

Dear children, I will be with you only a little longer.

And as I told the Jewish leaders, you will search for me, but you can’t come where I am going.

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other.

Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

Simon Peter asked, “Lord, where are you going?”

And Jesus replied, “You can’t go with me now, but you will follow me later.”

When we decided to start By Your Side Ministries, I made God a promise.  I told Him that when people walked through our doors, we would behave as the Bible instructs us to behave.  I promised God we would change the way people looked at most churches.  In return, God promised me that I would have a place in heaven, but not now!  Our Scripture today gives us a "new" commandment.  We are to love each other.  Unfortunately, the English language only has one word for love.  The Greeks had three.  The word used in Scripture, for God's love for us, is "agape" love.  Simply put, God's love for us is unconditional and never-ending.  God expects us to do the same.  I am righteously proud of our congregation and our theater cast and crew.  I promised God we would love each other and God's people, through By Your Side Ministries, have delivered on my promise.  We love each other unconditionally.  We fellowship with each other in the temple daily.  We pray and worship together.  We laugh together and we cry together.  It has been my faithful promise to God the Almighty that makes me so proud of the people who call this church their home.  I am going to encourage all pastors and church members to follow what John tells us about Jesus today.  Honor this "new" commandment.  Truly make the necessary life changes and sacrifices to love one another like Christ has loved us.  Don't make excuses to God for why this agape love can't happen.  Make the choices that you need to make to live like Jesus insists.  Believe me, it works!  The blessings come from our obedience to God.  From this moment on, commit to, "Love One Another!"
