Galatians 4:14-16

But even though my condition tempted you to reject me,

You did not despise me or turn me away.

No, you took me in and cared for me

As though I were an angel from God or even Christ Jesus himself.

Where is that joyful and grateful spirit you felt then?

I am sure you would have taken out your own eyes

And given them to me if it had been possible.

Have I now become your enemy because I am telling you the truth?

I'm not a big movie watcher for an obvious reason.  Most movies require at least two hours of time to watch them, and most often, I simply don't have the time!  One of my favorite movies of all time is "A Few Good Men!"  The famous line that Jack Nicholson delivers could be substituted in today's Scripture and delivered by Paul.  "You can't handle the truth!" resounds in my life daily.  Paul had planted the Galatian church and all was going well.  The Galatians were working hard to build God's Kingdom.  Then they got derailed.  Like so many churches and Christians, Christianity ceased to be about Jesus.  I know that sounds weird, but it is true.  The platform where our worship band leads each Sunday, and where all of our fully-staged musicals occur, has an eight-foot cross planted right in the middle for all to see.  We did that on purpose to keep our focus on the cross.  It is made out of 2 x 6 lumber that makes it appear even larger than life.  When worship or show pictures are taken, the cross is in virtually every picture.  Paul was desperately trying to tell the Galatians that they needed to embrace all of Jesus. They were doing what many Christians do today.  They were living the part of Christianity that fit into their lifestyle.  Paul explained that we are not supposed to try and fit Christ into our lives, but rather change our lives to follow Jesus.  We are to have an attitude of gratefulness at all times, even when the truth is hard for us.  We often turn on the church, God, and each other when the truth becomes too painful.  Each day when you wake up, listen to God before you embark on yet another day in this world.  We need to be obedient.  Sorry Jack, but your statement can't be correct if we are to follow Jesus.  "We Must Handle and Obey the Truth!"
