Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,

Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.

And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Today we celebrate the Triune God.  I will be brief with this devotion and encourage you to listen to the sermon to determine how our belief in the Triune God separates us from every other religion on earth.  For our purposes here, please understand that no part of the Trinity is optional for us as modern-day Christians.  Each part of the Triune God serves a valuable purpose in our life.  God is our Father, in every sense of that word.  As our Father, He protects and instructs us daily.  He loves us in a way that only He can comprehend.  God did come to earth in the form of God the Son.  This was critical for the human population.  God would no longer speak to His people through burning bushes or individual prophets.  God the Son became our direct messenger and teacher.  From God's throne room, Jesus descended to explain God the Father to all of us and encourage us to be obedient to His word.  God the Son also gave us an exclusive, personal conduit to God the Father, where we could bring all our praises, concerns, and questions.  When the physical body of God the Son died, so that we could all have eternal life, God the Holy Spirit showed up to abide in all of us.  We have an intimate counselor to guide us through all of life's twists and turns.  Fortunately, the Holy Spirit is not a "stand-in" for God, but is fully God incarnate.  So today, celebrate the Trinity.    Being a musician, I fully appreciate all the parts of a trio and would discover that something was drastically missing if all parts were not allowed to perform equally.  When you pray, acknowledge the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and embrace your personal, "Heavenly Trio!"
