Hebrews 11:5-7

It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—

“He disappeared, because God took him.”

For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God.

And it is impossible to please God without faith.

Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists

And that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood.

He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before.

By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world,

And he received the righteousness that comes by faith.

As we know, the author of the book of Hebrews is unknown, but that certainly doesn't negate the wisdom of this anonymous writer!  It is impossible to please God without faith.  Our Scripture lesson lists two great men who had immense faith.  To accept Christ as our personal Savior is to say, out loud, that God exists.  There is no Son without the Father.  While talking about God's existence would make a great devotion, today I would like us to consider something about Noah that is never mentioned in religious circles.  The book of Hebrews brings it up and I want to point it out.  We can all receive great comfort by looking at this passage of Scripture with "Jesus eyes."  Notice that it was Noah's faith that condemned the rest of the world.   Yes, that fact was on Noah's shoulders.  After all, had Noah not built the ark, how would God save his family while destroying everyone else?  Have we ever considered that while Noah was building this immense boat in his backyard, He also had to know what was in store for his neighbors?  When Noah and his family, along with all the critters, were sealed in the ark, the fate of the rest of the world was also sealed.  As Noah's clan floated to safety, the entirety of the world was destroyed by water.  The next time we make a choice for Christ and have faith in God, remember our faith is probably condemning those that deny Him.  There is nothing we can do about that.  Don't agonize over it, rather remember what Jesus said.  "All Who Believe In Me, Will Have Eternal Life!"
