Ezekiel 20:4-6

“Son of man, bring charges against them and condemn them.

Make them realize how detestable the sins of their ancestors really were.

Give them this message from the Sovereign Lord:

When I chose Israel—when I revealed myself to the descendants of Jacob in Egypt—

I took a solemn oath that I, the Lord, would be their God.

I took a solemn oath that day that I would bring them out of Egypt

To a land I had discovered and explored for them—

A good land, a land flowing with milk and honey, the best of all lands anywhere.

Ever wonder why God makes us remember even though He forgets?  I believe today's Scripture tells us clearly why we are called to forgive, yet remember.  Do we remember how detestable the sins of our ancestors were?  Closer to home, do we remember how detestable our sins have been?  God says that if we don't remember, we will forget that God has delivered us, for all time, to the promised land.  He took an oath to be our God.  He brought us to a land filled with milk and honey.  The problem is we all act like we are diabetics and lactose intolerant!  We don't want the dairy and sugar that God has provided for us.  Yet, our Scripture tells us that this is the land that is better than anywhere we might search for on our own.  I have a confession to make to everyone.  I have recently become intolerant of whining and complaining.  I don't mean the kind that true two-year olds do when they don't get their way or need something.  I mean all the adult whining and complaining.  Let's all stop and realize what we have and how blessed we are.  God provides our daily bread in a land of milk and honey.  Stop complaining that it is white milk, not chocolate.  Stop whining about the kind of honey we have.  Rather rejoice that we have both, rather than nothing at all.  Let's start walking around proclaiming what we learned in Sunday school.  "God is Good...All the Time!"
