James 1:5-7

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.

He will not rebuke you for asking.

But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.

Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty

Is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.

Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

We often experience periods of divided loyalty in our Christian lives.  After reading this statement, I am sure that there are some that are in complete denial!  Many Christians claim Christ but when faced with a decision, show their divided loyalty.  For instance, why are there so many people here in Central Florida at the beaches and theme parks on Sunday?  I'm not talking about tourists.  I am talking about residents!  If you interview them in the wave pool, they will tell you they are Christians. Yet on Sunday, they are paddling in the wave pool rather than praising in God's house.  Divided loyalty at its best!!!  Why does "Dear Abby" and "Ask the Experts" even exist?  James tells us today that if we need wisdom, we should go to God.  James tells us that God will not rebuke us for asking.  Is God the first place we go with questions?  Do we seek true answers in His word?  Many proclaim that they just don't hear God speak to them.  This is a sad claim, but James may shed some light on this subject.  James warns us to never approach God with divided loyalty.  He also tells us to expect nothing from God if our loyalty is divided.  It is quite possible that if we never hear anything from God, it is because our loyalties are divided.  Don't wait to test out this Biblical truth proclaimed by James.  The next time an important decision is to be made, examine your heart before asking God for the solution.  Determine if you are truly asking for God's will to be done, whatever it may be.  Is it possible that we are simply asking God for His blessing on our will?  "If We Create a Godly Void, Satan Will Fill It!"
