2 Timothy 2:18-19

They have left the path of truth,

Claiming that the resurrection of the dead has already occurred;

In this way, they have turned some people away from the faith.

 But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription:

“The Lord knows those who are his,”and

“All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”

In part two of our three-part devotion entitled, "Faith Can Move Mountains!" the apostle Paul is encouraging his young apprentice Timothy in the area of false teachings.  When people do not have faith, they are very susceptible to the power of false teachings.  We must understand that many aspects of faith are not explainable.  God is not a scientific hypothesis with a set of facts that explain His existence.  Fortunately, the Bible is full of many wonderful accounts of His works.  It gives us encouragement and support for our faith, but does not take the place of our faith.  There are so many false prophecies out there that it is impossible to address all of them in a daily devotion.  What Paul is telling Timothy is to not depart from what he already knows to be true by faith.  God's truth needs no defending and often no explanation.  We will never be able to explain our faith in God with a set of provable facts.  That is exactly why it is called faith.  I rejoice in Paul's admonition to Timothy.  I rejoice in knowing that God knows who I am as one of His believers.  If we are to believe and have faith, we must turn away from all evil and those that promote such!   It is the little things that become big things.  God calls us to fellowship in the temple daily.  So what's the big deal if we don't go one day?  Satan will use this event to convince us that we can miss two days.  Before we know it, we only fellowship in the temple on Sundays.  Sound familiar?  "Walk Away From Evil and False Teachings Before They Walk All Over You!"
