Isaiah 55:1-3

Is anyone thirsty?
Come and drink—even if you have no money!
Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it’s all free!
Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?
Why pay for food that does you no good?
Listen to me, and you will eat what is good.
You will enjoy the finest food.

Come to me with your ears wide open.  Listen, and you will find life.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you.
I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.

God's free gift of salvation is offered to everyone.  Yes, I said everyone.  You don't need money to purchase it.  Jesus already paid the bill for you.  This is so important.  There are many that believe they don't deserve or cannot afford God's salvation and favor.  The prophet Isaiah clears that up for all of us.  You see, this passage of Scripture is being delivered to the Gentiles, not the Jews.  Isaiah makes reference to this at the end of verse 3.  He tells the Gentile audience that God will give them the same unfailing love that was promised to David.  Wow!   Remember David?  After committing all the sin one person could do at one time, David repented to God and was forgiven.  At the conclusion of his life, God referred to David as "a man after my own heart."  This is the promise Isaiah was giving to the Gentiles.  This is the promise Isaiah is giving to us!  I believe you will agree, we pay for lots of things in this world that do us no good.  We believe the advertisements and they always fall short.  We are then faced with owning something we thought was the answer, that turns out to be the problem.  Many times, we can't return it.  We rarely get a refund, even if we have a receipt.  In these three verses of Scripture, God tells us if we listen to Him, we will enjoy the finest food.  We will not pay for something that is useless.  We will find life!  In the language of a popular board game, "Advance to go and collect $200!"  Isn't God good?  Through Isaiah 55:1-3, we are all one family.  We all have the same Dad.  We all own the keys to the Kingdom and God says "I promise."  That's what a covenant is.  God made some pretty famous promises.  How about the one with Noah?  Remember, God promised He would never flood the earth again.  God even told Noah that every time Noah saw a rainbow, he would remember God's promise to him.  O Family of God, hear God's offer and promise today.  If you already have accepted Him, rejoice in His everlasting promise to you.  If you are still searching, hear God's words through Isaiah today.  Explore the claims of Christ and accept His offer.  Eat at His table.  Drink His wine and His milk.  It is only there you will find rest, peace, and eternal life.
