Deuteronomy 8:2-4

Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years,

Humbling you and testing you to prove your character,

And to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.

Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna,

A food previously unknown to you and your ancestors.

He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone;

Rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

For all these forty years your clothes didn't wear out, and your feet didn't blister or swell.

We are never alone!  What a comforting thought.  What started this whole thing in Genesis was God declaring that it was not good for Adam to be alone.  Since that day, God has never left us alone.  At times, all of us have sinned and strayed away from Him, but God has never left US!  Some of you are probably wondering why I would be writing about never being alone during a time when lots of gatherings occur.  When you have been in the ministry as long as I have, you look at the holiday seasons in two distinct ways.  There is the joy of celebrating with God, family and friends and breaking bread together.  Like you, I enjoy re-living precious moments and looking forward to the great things God will do next in my life.  Unfortunately, I have seen far too often the downside of holidays for people.  The worldly statistics bear this out to all of us.  Thanksgiving and Christmas hold the highest incidence of suicide of any days in the calendar year.  People believe they are alone and all hope is gone.  These folks believe they have no purpose and hold no value.  By the way, many of these people may be your friends or people you see everyday.  About now, you are probably exclaiming one word that one of my friends uses all the time which is "Really?"   Yes, really.  How does this occur?  Satan makes us believe all of these things since he is the great deceiver.  If God never wants us to be alone, guess what Satan wants?  The devil wants us isolated from God and left with nowhere to turn.  Satan then steps in and molds our lives the way HE wants them.  So today as a minister, I need to bring God's promise to anyone who may feel alone.  Hear God say through me that you are never alone.  You are a child of God, created in His image.  God makes no mistakes.  God loves you so deeply and is right by your side.  That is why we named our ministry "By Your Side Ministries."  We know that God is always with us. During the Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas seasons, let's remember we do not live by bread alone.  We must feed on God's word and be aware of our surroundings.  God is probably going to use you in a mighty way in someone else's life.  Expect it.  Embrace it.  Don't miss it.  God's love is amazing and you will experience it first hand.  Don't forget to pass it on!  By doing so, we are never alone!
