Revelation 7:11-14

And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings.

And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God.

They sang,

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor
And power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

Then one of the twenty-four elders asked me,

“Who are these who are clothed in white? Where did they come from?”

And I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.”

Then he said to me, “These are the ones who died in the great tribulation.

They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.

As we conclude our twelve-part devotion series entitled, "Thanks Forever!" we turn to the final book of the Bible and John's revelation.  I must confess that I cannot wait to be in John's position, live and in person!  He has arrived at the throne room of God the Almighty.  There is a crowd.  They are all singing praises to God.  With all the understanding that John is given in his vision of the end of times, one fact has been omitted.  One of the twenty-four elders asks John who all these people are.  John is stunned for a moment as he doesn't know.  Often times, God asks us a question that He already knows the answer to, but wants to determine our obedient response.  John responded correctly.  John admitted that the elder was the only one who knew the answer to the question.  Then John did something really important that I learned in my prior sales training.  John closed his mouth and listened!  After all, John didn't have the answer.  He could have made up a story or even pretended like he knew, when he didn't.  I watch people do this all the time in our society.  They have no idea what the correct answer is so they make one up that sounds accurate.  The problem is that, more often than not, their answer is so far from the truth that people are disillusioned and confounded.  As pastors, we should always remember this.  If the Bible doesn't have the answer, we shouldn't make one up.  Look out, because this next statement may offend lots of people.  This "making up" of answers is why we have denominations today and don't belong to "one apostolic church" in Christ.  Notice that the answer the elder gave was neither glamorous or spectacular.  Who were these people?  They were simply those that had died standing up for Jesus Christ.  They are not even named individually.  They are simply the body of Christ.  They claim the promise that Jesus gave all of us.  "Those Who Believe Are Washed in the Blood of the Lamb!"
