John 15: 18-19

If the world hates you, keep in mind it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.

As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.  That is why the world hates you.

In my Family of God, we often talk to each other about how we feel alone in the world.  Many of our thoughts die of loneliness as we speak to people in our worldly environment about Godly things.  Doing what Christ wants us to do in our daily lives is not easy.  It wasn't for Him either.  This is why He has given us the scripture above.  It makes perfect sense that the world hates us.  We don't stand for anything the world does.  That's what the phrase means to be "set apart" by God for Christ.  Interestingly enough, when the Bible calls us to "Sanctify Ourselves" this is exactly what it means.  We are to be in the world but not of the world.  If you are saying to yourself that this is very hard, you are going in the right direction.  As Christians, we need to realize everyday that the more we commit our lives to Christ and fellowship daily in the temple, the more difficult our worldly life becomes.  As you go through your day, rejoice in every trial and every time you don't fit in or feel alone.  Christ is saying "I have chosen you out of the world and that is why the world hates you".  Christ's love or the world's hate...your choice everyday.  Choose wisely.
