Google+ 10/11/13 Get Away From Me, You That Break God's Laws!

Matthew 7:22-25

"On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord!

We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’

But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house,

It won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock."

In part five of our six-part devotion series entitled "Now, Go Build My Church!" Matthew quotes Jesus as He explains how to build for the Kingdom.  Our Scripture today embodies both aspects of Jesus's ministry.  On one hand, Jesus encourages us by explaining that if we build our house on solid rock, rain, wind, and floods will never be able to destroy it.  With Christ as our chief cornerstone, we can survive any storm the world, or Satan, throws at any of us.  On our most desperate days, we should claim this promise!  Even though it may seem like there will be no tomorrow, God assures us that when the smoke clears, we will still be standing for Him.  Rejoice and Praise God!!!  On the other hand, Jesus reminds us that for those that build their foundation on sinking sands, there is no hope.  Yes, that is exactly what Jesus says.  Read the Scripture carefully.  Jesus says that when the Day of Judgment comes, many will cry out.  They will claim the name of Jesus and explain how many prophesies, miracles, and exorcisms they have done.  What does Jesus say about these people?  Christ says He will tell them that He does not know them!  He will tell the truth and ask them to leave.  Jesus will identify the blasphemers.  We all want to portray our Triune God as being a loving "grandfather" type.  We want to picture us sitting on God's lap in His throne room as we speak to Jesus about our heart's desires.  God is a loving God.  He protects His true children and provides for them.  God also calls out all those that reject Him with their hearts and actions.  When we arrive at the Day of Judgment, there is no second chance.  Jesus will just send those away that didn't know Him.  How can we recognize those ungodly folks in our world today?  While we are not to judge, we can observe and come to a clear decision, if we look carefully.  People who repeatedly do things that are not Biblical are rejecting God.  Churches do it regularly.  Many things that occur in today's New Testament Churches are simply not Biblical.  Many pastors preach sermons and never open a Bible during the sermon.  How is that possible?  Yet, most in the congregations settle for this ungodly behavior and laugh at tasteless jokes that often offend everyone.  If we watch and listen carefully, the Holy Spirit will speak to us about these non-Biblical situations.  What should we do about them?  I am going with Jesus's answer.  I am going to listen to His teachings and build my house on solid rock.  I don't want sudden storms to tear my house to shreds!  By doing this, we will never have to hear Jesus say, "Get Away From Me, You Who Break God's Laws!"
