Deuteronomy 29:25-29

“And the answer will be,

‘This happened because the people of the land abandoned the covenant that the Lord,

The God of their ancestors, made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

Instead, they turned away to serve and worship gods they had not known before,

gods that were not from the Lord.

That is why the Lord's anger has burned against this land,

Bringing down on it every curse recorded in this book.

In great anger and fury the Lord uprooted his people from their land

And banished them to another land, where they still live today!’

“The Lord our God has secrets known to no one.

We are not accountable for them,

But we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us,

So that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.

In part two of our six-part devotion series entitled, "Revealed," Moses shares some revelations from God.  By now, we all know that Moses has led God's people out of the bondage of Pharaoh in Egypt.  They have been instructed about being obedient to God.  Now, the Israelites are perplexed about why God is so angry with many of them.  Moses tells God's people that many of them have not been obedient.  They have turned away from God and worshipped and served other gods.  Why?  Here is the answer that still applies to all of us today.  God often chooses not to reveal all His plans to us.  Conventional wisdom would tell us that we don't need to know everything God has planned.  As we discussed yesterday, there are many of God's truths that we would simply not understand.  That is why we are called to have faith in God.  When we don't look for or understand God's revelations to us, we become disillusioned and often turn away from God.   As many of you know, I am now the pastor of my own worship arts church.  I never set out to do this.  It was not my plan.  It was God's plan and I am simply trying to be obedient.  I do not have all of God's answers as to how each detail will work out.  I simply have faith and I will execute, without hesitation, the things God has revealed to me.  Read the end of our Scripture lesson today, carefully.  We are not accountable for God's secrets.  There are things none of us know about what God will do next.  We are accountable for the things He has revealed to us.  By being fully aware of God's revelations, we can be obedient to them and Him.  We must not make excuses or blame others for our lack of knowledge.  We cannot just ignore what God says so that we remain ignorant.  We must trust and obey.  "God Does Not Permit Human Ostriches!"
